His voice has colour and character-there wasn't hint of bell canto bleat and strain- and the top Cs of "Ah mes amis", if not that effortless, slightly freak Flóres league, had a sense of occasion and plenty of Latin Macho swagger. He was the perfect, personable, puppyish foil to Lee's Marie.

In the Brazilian tenor Luciano Botelho she has a Tonio of natural lyric beauty, and the same easy stage presence, and also blessed with a winning smile.

"Luciano Botelho was magnificent too, particularly his upper register, in the role of Lord Percy who is executed for treason."

"Two other singers stand out: the Brazilian tenor Luciano Botelho sounds purer and sweeter the higher he soars"
Michael Church
The Independent
"The audience favourite was Luciano Botelho, playing Riccardo (Lord Percy), Anna's fictional lost love who returns from exile only to fall into King Henry's trap implicating the pair of them in false accusations of adultery. He threw himself into the part with a winning verve, pinging off multiple top notes with JDF-style ease in his appealing light, lamby tones."

"With the young Brazilian tenor Luciano Botelho as Riccardo Percy, Unwin was paired with a singer most definitely in a role central to his fach. Botelho sang Percy with passion and brilliance and good care for Donizetti's vocal line. He uses fioriture in an expressive way and shows a good willingness to sing quietly (always a good sign in young tenors). He was dramatically willing as well, not content to just stand and sing. He and Unwin made a fine pair, she buttoned up and reluctant to admit her love, he all passionate commitment, throwing discretion to the winds."

"As Percy, Anna's old flame, lured back to England as part of a cunning plan to trap them both, Luciano Botelho's high-lying tenor and dramatic impetuosity prove a winning combination."

"Brazilian tenor Luciano Botelho, had an appealing and brightly focused voice, highly appropriate in Arias by Mozart and particularly French composer Edouard Lalo, a delightful and charming aria from Le roi d'Ys"

"... proved to be a sensitive artist as did the light, lyric tenor Luciano Botelho from Brazil, who produced one of the highlights in the form of Fenton"
AJ Sicluna
South Wales Echo
"The young tenor Luciano Botelho, also owner of gorgeous timbre and refined technique, showed a sensitive interpretation of Nemorino. With his rich centred voice and its usual good taste in style and singing line, Botelho is constantly developing his maturity. It is noticed that bel-canto is the most appropriated style for his qualities hearing his moving performance of the famous aria "Una furtiva lagrima."

"Besides an impeccable dramatic interpretation, Botelho's beautiful and tender voice perfectly suits Mozart's style. From the masterly initial aria, "Dies bildnis ist bezaubernd schön", and throughout all the opera, the tenor emphasized his performance with expressiveness and musicality."
